SPOTTED - Natural Hair'd Beauty in Georgia
- Introduce yourself Hello my name is Felisha Green, but I go by Fefe I'm from a small town in the state of Georgia and I've been natural for a little over 2 years and must say that I love it!!
-Describe the moment you were spotted by Hug My Hair (you can just mention how you responded to the call on Facebook) I spotted a post on facebook in a hair group I'm apart of called teamnatural and figured it would be nice to share a little about me with others from all around the world.
- Have you always rocked and loved your curls/kinks/coils? If not, how did you come to embrace your natural hair? My hair has been relaxed most of my life, but I eventually got tired of how damaged my hair was becoming. I had been wanting to go natural for a while after admiring the natural hair of family, friends and others while out and about on the daily. I finally decided that natural was for me and I had to get over the fear of chopping my hair off. I initially planned on transitioning to natural, but after a very short time like maybe 2 months I was frustrated with maintaining two different textures and grabbed the scissors.
- How would you describe your hair texture? My hair has a number of textures in it looser curls in the front and nape area, tighter coils throughout the back then a mixture of the two everywhere else. It's just all over the place lol.
-Tell us one "Do" and one "Don't" for your hair type. One do for my hair is to always make sure my hair is properly moisturized and sealed in order to keep it looking soft, shiny and healthy One don't is not to over manipulate my hair because then I'll just be sabotaging the health of it.
-What advice would you give to someone considering going natural? My advice to anyone going natural is to make sure that they're doing it for the right reasons and not with expectations of a certain hair type. Do your own research and don't think that products that work for everyone else is going to work for you. Also don't solely rely on products to have healthy hair because what you put in your body also contributes, drink lots of water and get a good intake of fruits and veggies
- How do you love to wear your hair? My favorite way to wear my hair is a 3 strand twist out. It's quick easy and I love that it makes my curls more uniformed.
- How often do you wash your hair and what products do you use? I co-wash my hair once or twice a week using tresemme naturals nourishing moisture conditioner and once a month I wash with suave's clarifying shampoo or raw african black soap to prevent any built up. Beyond those products my current faves are oyin hair dew, elucence moisture balancing conditioner, castor oil, extra virgin olive oil, raw shea butter and either wet line xtreme gel or super wet natural look aloe vera gel
- Describe your worst hair day. My worst hair day was the time I tried out a new product for a twist out which sucked. My hair ended up being super poofy, flaky and just a mess on top of I was running late for work so I didn't have time to actually fix it. This resulted in me throwing on a beanie and calling it a day, thank goodness for beanies lol.
