Protective Style Trend: Crochet Braid Wigs
Posted by Lil on Within the last year and a half, crochet braids have made a fierce comeback and have become one of the trendiest hairstyles to rock right now. Back in the day, people wore crochet braids with these horrible noodle-looking like extensions but now the styles are much fancier with variations of extensions ranging from Marley braiding hair to Cuban twist hair, making the style more appealing. I wore crochet braids for the first time this summer and I loved them. I’m always trying to find ways to switch my style up and crochet braids were perfect for adding length but still giving the “natural” look. I have a simple photo tutorial of how I installed my braids (you can read it here) but as some of you may know or have picked up…I don’t leave styles in my hair for long. One of the reasons I took my crochet braids down so soon was because the overnight maintenance drove me crazy! Do you know how hard it is to fit all of that hair in a bonnet? Whew! Another reason was because it was just a little too much hair for me and by the time I was done with work and whatever else I had to do for the day, I wished I could just pull it all off until tomorrow. *light bulb* The answer to my crochet braid problem had been around all along – a crochet braid wig! If you like the look of crochet braids but hate the maintenance involved, you can easily wear the style if you make a wig out of it. The simplicity of wearing a wig makes this style more attractive because at night or when you’re sitting around the house, your hair will have a chance to breathe and you can still wash and care for it as you would any other day.
